Anastasia Samarkina

Anastasia graduated from Cyprus International University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree (High Honors) in Bioengineering. She continued her studies at Radboud University, The Netherlands, where she received her Master of Science degree (cum laude) in Molecular Mechanisms of Disease (MMD) in 2018. During her Master`s, Anastasia performed a 6-month internship at the department of Cell Biology under the supervision of Prof. Peter Friedl at the Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences (RIMLS), The Netherlands. Her project focused on the process of tumor cell intravasation and on the tumoral niches that promote metastasis.

She then continued to dissect the tumor microenvironment at the laboratory of Prof. Meenhard Herlyn at The Wistar Institute, USA. She focused on tumor-associated B cells and their diversity using both in vitro 3D organotypic cultures and humanized mouse models. Anastasia joined Prof. Dotto`s laboratory in July 2019 as a Ph.D. student. She is interested in understanding the role of androgen receptor signaling during targeted therapy resistance in cutaneous melanoma.
